Cheesy Egg Toast
(1 Servings)What you’ll need
1 | 1 slice of bread (pâine) |
2 | 1 large egg (ouă) |
3 | 50 g cheese (branza), grated (your favorite type like cheddar or mozzarella works great!) |
4 | 1 tablespoon butter |
5 | Salt, to taste |
6 | Pepper, to taste |
How to make it
Begin by heating a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling it around to coat the pan evenly. The rich aroma of butter will start to fill your kitchen—so inviting!
While the butter is melting, take the slice of bread and carefully crack the egg right in the center of the bread. If you want to avoid any mess, you can create a small well in the bread before cracking the egg.
Once the butter is bubbling slightly, gently place the bread with the egg in the skillet. Season the egg with a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the egg white is set but the yolk is still runny. This will give you that fantastic creamy texture when you take a bite!
Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the egg generously. Cover the skillet with a lid for another minute or so, allowing the cheese to melt beautifully over the egg.
Once the cheese is gooey and the egg is cooked to your liking, carefully slide the toast onto a plate.
Enjoy your Cheesy Egg Toast while it’s warm, perhaps with a sprinkle of fresh herbs or a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick!
Chef’s secrets
For added flavor, try using different types of cheese or even mixing in some herbs like chives or parsley.
If you prefer your egg cooked more thoroughly, simply cover the skillet for an extra minute or two.
