Cheesy Peri Peri Garlic Potato Bake
(1 Servings)What you’ll need
1 | 200 g potatoes, peeled and diced |
2 | 1 tbsp peri peri sauce |
3 | 2 tbsp mayonnaise |
4 | 1 clove garlic, minced |
5 | 50 g cheese, grated (your choice, but cheddar works wonders) |
6 | 1 small red chilli, finely chopped (adjust for spice preference) |
7 | 1 tbsp butter |
8 | 1 egg |
How to make it
Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 200°C. This will ensure your bake gets that golden top we all love.
Boil the Potatoes: Place the diced potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 10 minutes or until they're fork-tender. Drain and let them steam for a minute to remove any excess moisture.
Prepare the Mixture: In a bowl, mix the peri peri sauce, mayonnaise, minced garlic, and half of the grated cheese. Stir in the chopped chilli for an extra punch.
Combine: Add the warm potatoes to the sauce mixture, gently folding to coat each piece. The warmth of the potatoes will help them absorb all those delicious flavors.
Assemble in a Baking Dish: Grease a small baking dish with butter. Pour in the potato mixture, spreading it evenly. Crack the egg on top and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden. The aroma of garlic and cheese will fill your kitchen, making it hard to resist!
Serve: Once baked, let it cool for a couple of minutes before diving in. The combination of crispy edges and creamy center will be heavenly.
Chef’s secrets
For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving.
If you prefer a spicier kick, feel free to add more peri peri sauce or even a sprinkle of red pepper flakes on top before baking.
