Creamy Custard Delight
(1 Servings)What you’ll need
1 | 200 ml milk |
2 | 30 g sugar |
3 | 50 ml water |
4 | 1 large egg |
How to make it
In a small saucepan, combine the milk and sugar. Heat gently over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm but not boiling. The sweet aroma will fill your kitchen!
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg until it’s light and frothy. This will help incorporate air and give your custard a lovely texture.
Gradually add the warm milk mixture into the egg, whisking constantly to temper the egg and prevent it from scrambling. You want that smooth blend, so take your time!
Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and place it over low heat. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon. This should take around 5-7 minutes, and the anticipation will be delightful!
Once thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. You can then pour it into a small serving dish or a bowl.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to set, or enjoy it warm if you can’t wait!
Chef’s secrets
For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a drop of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon before cooking.
If you prefer a smoother custard, strain the mixture through a fine sieve before pouring it into the serving dish to remove any lumps.
