Spicy Egg and Veggie Sandwich
(1 Servings)What you’ll need
1 | 1 boiled egg |
2 | 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced |
3 | 1 small carrot, grated |
4 | 1 tablespoon red chili sauce |
5 | 1 pinch black salt |
6 | 1 pinch red pepper |
7 | 1 teaspoon garlic paste |
8 | 2 tablespoons mayonnaise |
9 | 2 slices of bread |
10 | 1 teaspoon butter |
11 | A sprinkle of chili flakes |
12 | A pinch of regular salt |
How to make it
Start by preparing the creamy filling. In a small bowl, mash the boiled egg with a fork until crumbly. Add the mayonnaise, garlic paste, black salt, red pepper, and red chili sauce. Mix until well combined and creamy. This adds a lovely richness to the sandwich!
Next, take your slices of bread and spread butter on one side of each slice. This will give your sandwich a beautiful golden crust when toasted.
Heat a pan over medium heat and place the bread slices buttered side down. Toast them until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. The aroma of toasting bread will fill your kitchen and make your mouth water!
Once the bread is perfectly toasted, remove it from the pan. On one slice, spread the egg mixture generously, then layer the thin cucumber slices and grated carrot on top. The crunch from the veggies contrasts beautifully with the creamy filling.
Sprinkle a few chili flakes on top for an extra kick, then cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
Return the sandwich to the pan and toast for another 2 minutes on each side, until the outside is crispy and the filling is warmed through.
Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy the combination of textures and flavors!
Chef’s secrets
For an extra punch, feel free to add more chili sauce or even some sliced jalapeños if you have them on hand.
If you prefer a milder flavor, you can reduce the amount of chili sauce or skip the chili flakes altogether.
