Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Fluffy Rice
(1 Servings)What you’ll need
1 | 150 g yellowfin tuna medallions |
2 | 100 g white rice |
3 | 15 ml sesame oil |
4 | 1 clove garlic, minced |
5 | 1 tsp soy sauce |
6 | Juice of half a lime |
7 | Salt, to taste |
8 | Fresh cilantro, for garnish |
How to make it
Cook the Rice: Start by rinsing the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a small pot, combine the rice with 200 ml of water and a pinch of salt. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the water is absorbed. Fluff it with a fork and set aside.
Prepare the Tuna: While the rice is cooking, heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil. Once hot, carefully place the yellowfin tuna medallions in the pan. Sear for about 1.5 minutes on each side for a nice crust while keeping the center rare. The beautiful golden color will make your mouth water!
Add Flavor: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and soy sauce to the pan after flipping the tuna. This will create a lovely aromatic sauce that coats the fish. Squeeze the juice of half a lime over the medallions just before taking them off the heat.
Plate the Dish: On a plate, create a bed of fluffy rice and place the seared tuna medallions on top. Drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the tuna for an extra burst of flavor.
Garnish and Serve: Finally, sprinkle fresh cilantro over the dish for a pop of color and freshness. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Chef’s secrets
**Don’t Overcook the Tuna:** For the best texture, aim for a medium-rare finish. The tuna should be warm in the center but still tender and slightly pink.
**Experiment with Flavors:** Feel free to add a dash of chili flakes or a sprinkle of sesame seeds for an extra kick and crunch!
